Entity placement

Coordinate entity bindings while keeping resource lifecycle in the application.

master · 1.0.0-SNAPSHOT / Reviewed 2026-10-29

Coordination through shared caches

EntityPlacementService coordinates node selection over Cluster Core DistributedCache without a second directory. place returns an existing binding first; on a miss it reads the caller-owned instance snapshot, applies the strategy, and atomically obtains or registers a candidate.

Selection and weights

RandomPlacementStrategy selects uniformly among healthy, enabled candidates. WeightedRandomPlacementStrategy also requires positive finite weights. Advertising zero weight affects new selection; it does not migrate existing rooms or prevent their conditional renewal.

Application responsibilities

The service does not create resources, reserve hard capacity, or schedule renewals. Pass the winning entry to the target, initialize idempotently by key and token, and renew explicitly. A create-RPC timeout alone does not justify releasing and reassigning ownership.
